Thank you Gary and the AHRECS team, for supporting the review and development of the University of Canterbury’s (UC) human research ethics processes and knowledge resources. This work has involved auditing our current procedures and developing a blueprint for a research ethics framework at UC. The research ethics expertise that AHRECS has brought to this project is invaluable. AHRECS has provided knowledge of international research ethics best practice and combined this with the local Aotearoa-New Zealand indigenous cultural imperatives. A critical part of this work is the development of a UC Human Research Ethics Manual to support knowledge and skill development among staff and students. This resource will ensure UC staff and students have access to model research ethics practices, as well as support knowledge development by members of the University’s human research ethics committee. AHRECS’ expertise and oversight is what has made this project possible. We have greatly appreciated AHRECS’ prompt and clear communication and their ability to understand UC’s needs.
