The approach and language used by research ethics reviewers might make some researchers wonder if consent is an ancient ritual that requires precise incantations to complete correctly. Instead a consent strategy needs to be designed for the specific realities of a project and be respectful/intelligible so potential participants can make an informed and voluntary decision about participating.
