  • Commonwealth Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA)

The Department sought expert advice as to whether to establish a research ethics committee and arrangements. AHRECS worked with FaHCSIA staff to produce a discussion paper about the different options and models for ethical review within the department. The goals were to manage risk, build capacity and fscilitate research. This included the delivery of training and the production of resource material.

FaHCSIA includes a number of statutory and non-statutory bodies, as well as statutory office holders. The objectives of the Department relate to: increasing social and economic participation; improving social cohesion and basic living standards; closing the gap on Indigenous disadvantage; supporting individuals, families and communities to build their capacity.
