Especially at this time, when the wider community is anxiously awaiting a COVID-19 vaccine and treatment, those who have an insight to the drug development process, have a responsibility to explain to family/friends/neighbours.  Even if we suspect the detail will confuse the listener, we should think of accurate ways to summarise the process.
