This humorous Don Mayne cartoon touches on an important point: When national human research ethics frameworks discuss beneficence, we need to think about the risks that participants might pose to researchers.  This is especially acute when an individual researcher will be collecting data.  This can be even more serious when senior staff will be sending junior researchers out into the field.  The research design and application for research ethics review must discuss the strategies to mitigate that risk.
