Incentives can be a great way to boost the performance of recruitment and activities, but researchers should screen for existing injuries and vulnerabilities (note the bandage on his left knee), an appropriately experienced person should monitor for problems, and the researchers/research ethics reviewers should consider the presence of significant risks and degree to which the incentive is coercive (which might be a consideration in the pictured example).
