Top research institute had seven years to act on misconduct complaints – Brisbane Times (Sean Parnell | May 2023)
Research institutions have a key role in shaping and informing the research culture under their auspices. Bullying cannot be tolerated, even if it is by a research superstar who brings in a great deal of grant money and appears to add to the fame and standing of the institution. Prompt and decisive action must be taken when an individual is found to be a bully. Otherwise, it makes a mockery of the institution’s claim to take bullying and harassment seriously. From this reporting, it appears this institution in Queensland, Australia failed in this responsibility.
