In recent years, when discussing research with First People, there has been a welcome (and long overdue) change, no longer is it a matter of how to respectfully obtain consent and access approval for Indigenous communities. Increasingly there is a recognition that the value, impact and relevance of a research project are greatly enhanced by the inclusion of coresearchers who are Indigenous and of a deep collaboration with a reference group of community members.
